In March HMDS partners up with Riverside Lyric Ensemble to produce Louis Nowra's Cosi

Director - Cathy Boyle

In May we will be staging Gilbert & Sullivan's classic tale of love, death, & governmental bureacracy in 19th century Japan in "The Mikado"

We round out the year Celebrating "the Rhythum of Life" in Sweet Charity, a musical that tells the story of a taxi dancer's hopes for love and a better life. With songs like:

"Big Spender"
"If My Friends Could See Me Now"
"There's Gotta Be Something Better Than This"
"The Rhythum of Life"
"I Love To Cry At Weddings"

Sweet Charity promises to be a fun show for all.

AladdinCongratulations to the cast and crew of Aladdin for a very successful season. Hat tip to Jono Corby for his first venture onto the stage in the role of Aladdin & to M Seedsman who has proved by her wonderful performance as the Genie that she is far more than a "one trick pony". Mark Power's performance in the role of the Widow Twankey was comedy gold. A special mention must also be made of the flawless performance given by Joy Yard who took on the role of the Empress with less than one week's preparation.

Director: Carol Amos
Assistant Director: Felicity Amos

About Us

Holroyd Musical and Dramatic Society (HMDS) is an amateur theatrical society located in the Holroyd council area of Western Sydney.
HMDS was formed as a result of a public meeting held on 24th February 1971 and has existed since that time with the support, both moral and financial, of the Holroyd City Council and members of the local community. Two of the earliest committee members were Aldermen of Holroyd Council.
The society performs musicals, pantomimes and straight plays.
Membership is open to people over the age of 16. Children are permitted to perform in shows where children are required, for example, pantomimes and some musicals. We welcome all interest in our society, whether you enjoy acting, directing, back-stage, set design/building, costumes, front-of-house, or any other aspect of community theatre. Click here for membership details and to be able to download our membership application form.
