The Drowsy Chaperone was performed by Holroyd Musical & Dramatic Society stage from the 31st of March to the 8th of April 2017.
In one of the most hilarious shows you will see, this musical-within-a-comedy features the overtly camp “Man in Chair” playing for us his favourite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. As it plays, the recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone takes life in front of the audiences eyes, with the Man in Chair guiding us through the laughs.
Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a self-proclaimed king-of-romance, and an intoxicated chaperone - you have the ingredients for a show of madcap delight!
Warning: Side effects of this show were dangerous and excessive laughter!
